TATE NO YUUSHA SEASON 1 ANIME REVIEW
-ANEKO YUSAGI
(MAY 02 2020)
Plot:
One of the most common and trending storyline in an anime is being transported to another world. In an isekai anime, where all is unknown, weapon is a must. Power is everything. We all see those main characters who got overpowered even at the start of the story. Having it in mind, it takes me a lot of thinking whether I'll be able to enjoy this series. The series starts with the protagonist, Naofumi, being summoned in another world. Being easy going and innocent, he'll come to experience horrible things that will put sorrow in his smile. With only a shield in possession, he is expected to fight and protect himself from all the dumbshit around him. That is not your typical isekai plot, right? How can a shield be his fighting weapon? How can he move forward? Well, that's what makes it superior with another isekai out there. Instead of following the path which most chosen, the author amazingly created a new one. An adventure that will never bore you, characters that will make you infuriated, hardwork and patience he put through, and the satisfying comeback for those who belittle him. Oh! There's one more thing, the balance number of characters. Glad that it isn't harem with girls flocking around Naofumi. Being overpowered is not the right way for describing him, he just learn how to use his mind, unlike those arrogant pests who do nothing but talk. Side note, Motoyasu is really dumb, no brain character I've ever saw.
Characters:
Naofumi has the best character development along the series. Well, apart from him and his allies, there really isn't much character changes. Naofumi is a happy go lucky, innocent, kind and positive dude. After being summoned in another world, with minimum idea of what's going to happen, without being aware of danger and malice pointed at him, he experienced the worst kind of treatment he'll never imagine that will change how he do things. Being alone, he learn to be independent, smart and strong enough to take a step out of the darkness he's in. What I love about his character is how matured he is. Hating everyone around him just because some people do him wrong is a no no, getting arrogant and thinking highly of himself is also a no no. He just remain kind hearted, helping those in need and protecting those he cherish.
Sound and Animation:
Anime with great plot as well as great animation is so satisfying. There will be no dull moment and every scenarios are a shame to miss. The songs on this series reminded me of Log Horizon. It has that same presence that will make you want to hear more. The fights are great and how different shields were made is so amazing. It is one hella of a weapon. The characters are also different with each other, and you can't just say "they looks the same if you change their hair" if you know what I mean.
Enjoyment:
I love it. I super duper love it. The fact that Naofumi and his two companions are strong is really impactful. It isn't an endless loop of protecting those weak harem allies. He can really depend on the two in fights. Additionally, the queen is so cool and elegant. She has the authority and power to rule the kingdom. Isn't that rare? Since most of stories depend on the King, a Queen leading the country is a big YES. While you may get irritated a dozen of times because of those stupid extra shit characters, waiting will be super satisfying that all of the irritations you've felt will be relieved.
Ending:
The ending is so damn amazing. That's what I've been waiting for. It is truly a sight to see. Even though it takes a whole season to get what they deserve, all of the worst things they endured came back with a really sweet taste of revenge. There's just one question for me, why do they hate the shield hero so much? Guess, it will be explained on the next season. Sad that the continuation is still not in reach. I hope more anime like this will come. Not just some fan service, please.
