OVERLORD SEASON 1 ANIME REVIEW
-KUGANE MARUYAMA
(SEPTEMBER 24 2019)
Plot:
Isekai Anime is so much of a trend right now. A boy who suddenly gets into the game they are making, someone who transported into the world he has no idea what is about, dying and turning into something different in another world, name it. Well, what differs for me in this series is first, the avatar of the MC is not a black haired guy or a handsome one who girls drool over, most of the time in an Isekai Anime. He is not handsome, but his appearance is really cool. A skull is so love. The second one is, this anime tackles on a more technical side of an MMORPG. I'm not really a fan of such game and the way that different features of it was explained is a plus. What I love on this anime is how he uses his sources, items and guardians, adding his way of thinking and planning every detail of movement he needs to make. And the last one is the guardians of his that is so dependable in strength, that is. Because, let's be honest, most of the anime like this, most of the characters always depend on the MC because they're useless. Though the MC in this series is overpowered, his guardians also too. They don't need saving or protection, in fact, they wanted to help as much as possible. The climax of this season is too exciting and how the MC deals with it is satisfying. At most, this season is more of making a name, getting to know every character, and gathering information.
Characters:
The development of every character is slim, or down to none. Since this season is more of presenting each character, the chances for them to change or grow is minimal. What's interesting on every character are their unique attitudes, which made them different to what they should be. As their character supposed to be NPC, it is great to see that they've been transformed into a humane one as what the script told them to. I really love the character of Nabe. She's easily annoyed and have that pride slash confident in her, and the way she shows her disgust is so cute. But of course, the most interesting character is the MC and its exciting to conclude what he will do next.
Sound and Animation:
Most of the appearance of characters are so cool, such as Albedo. She's like a priestess when she's behaved. Not only did the characters are all look good, there are also characters whose dark which all equals out. The voices of the characters are compatible on what the characters are expressing. The best ones are Nabe and Ains, my favorites.
Enjoyment:
There's no episode I didn't enjoy. Every episode will get you more in hook of the anime that you want to watch more. What I really enjoy is the fight between Ains and Clementine. He shows a side of him as a human getting revenge for his colleague, but at the same time, his merciless way of fighting is just crazy.
Ending:
His challenges is only starting. The obstacles he needed to face are slowly crawling near him. And he doesn't know who is the enemy yet. He needed some tactics or strategy to win the game. He needed a plan to get ahead. The fight at the ending just shows how much responsibility he has, and how every move he'll make can be critical.
