"She has another bruise in her arms again", I heard one of my classmates whispered.
"Maybe she really did join a gang. Poor her, so heartbroken because Kyle dumped her." Added another one.
I heaved a sigh and crouched in my desk. I'm tired listening on this bullshit. Can't they say different lines? Are they NPC? Am I in a game where the protagonist gets bullied? Nah. I hope so.
It's been two months since my mom left us.
And it's a living hell after that. To be honest, I'm amazed I'm still breathing now.
One bruise on my right cheek from my father's slap. Two in my hands from his cigarette. Another in my right arm from when he shoved me real hard in our kitchen table. And now, this additional one in my left arm due to being beaten by a golf club.
Just because this mother of mine left home, and leave me, a useless daughter of hers. I've thought of running away multiple times but I just can't. Not because I love my father, but because of my little brother. He's a very sick child from the day he was born. Since father holds the financial capability, after transferring the company ownership from my mother's family, he handled all of my brother's needs. I didn't expect that he'll hide my own brother from me, just to tie me down on that place. I tried searching information for I don't know how many but once I got caught, a mark is left within my body.
Should I just kill him? Don't, Selena. You're not that kind of a person. Should I just run away? I can't bear it. Not when I know that my sick little brother will be his target of anger once I'm gone. I can't leave him in that hell of a man. Where, where should I hide him if it were me? I need to find him before I die in that place, before my father completely stole the little of life I've only had.
"Or maybe, she's doing that? You know, that thing. You'll really get bruises if you make out with a creepy old guy for money."
I heard one of my boy classmate said to those girls whose chattering earlier. That's...way out of line.
Trembling with anger, I immediately stand up which made them silent. I know they've been waiting for this. For me to throw words that'll only affect my reputation even more, words that won't bother them but we'll made me sink deeper.
I swallow hard, let a long sigh to calm the rage that's consuming my heart. It's a waste of energy, and time. Why would I bother explaining myself to those who already accused me in the first place? In the end, I know I won't be heard. In the end, I'll still be the loser. I run away from the classroom as fast as I can, running to the only place I felt safe, the old storage room this school doesn't use anymore. There, no one's going to harm me, no one's going to mock me, no one will hurt me.
20...30...Exactly one hour since I've left our classroom. Not even a ring on my cellphone, this silence that bears witness in my agony.

"Hey, why do you still go to this school. Just disappear already!" Someone kick my desk and shouted at me.
Two more weeks have passed and another bruise on my right forehead appeared. Failed attempt again. I thought that I've had a chance when my father went home drunk, with a younger lady with him. Who would imagine someone like him will put an alarm in his own office table. Before I've even got a chance to avoid the bottle of wine hovering towards me, my sight already became blurry.
"Do you hear me!" She shouted at me again, with much louder tone.
I get that I maybe creeped them out. Who would want to see a classmate who always have bruises in her body. Not that I care, I'm already tired as it is. I just glare at her in return. Neither the energy nor the will to respond, I have none. My head still throb because of the pain. The calmness I barely holding in slowly started collapsing. I find it hard to breathe, even if I'm only sitting. After closing my eyes for a second, I've found myself in another location.
"You're in the infirmary." A smiling face greeted me upon opening my eyes. The face I used to see for a year, not doubting whether it is fake or real.
"Why are you here?" I said irritatingly, while slowly pressing the somehow new treatment applied in my forehead.
"No matter how jerk I was to you, do I physically hurt you? How come you get yourself tangled in an abusive partner now?" He replied while still smiling.
What? Physically abusive partner?
I laughed so hard after hearing what he said.
What shameful joke that was.
He looked so shocked seeing my reaction to what he claimed.
"Didn't expect you have that idiotic side" I said while preparing myself to leave the place.
"Where are you going? You should wait for the nurse first." He grabbed my wrist and tried making me lay again on the infirmary bed.
"Don't you dare touch me." I slapped his hand and told him angrily. This comfort and caring act go beyond the limit. I don't know what he wants and I don't care for it. No matter what his reason is, he can't just enter the fortress I've built again.
I left him in the infirmary, never looking back and having no care. I bet his friends just want him to find out my reasons out of curiosity.
