ARSLAN SENKI SEASON 1 ANIME REVIEW
-YOSHIKI TANAKA
OVERALL: 9/10
PLOT: 8/10
The story focuses on a young prince who has been somewhat driven out of his kingdom due to some incident in the past. This story mainly focuses on how will he manage to get the kingdom back and make the right choices to change the bad ways and rules that the previous generation has taken. I won't say that this story is a unique one because fighting over a crown is quite common in a monarchy and historical fiction, I think. What I'm interested the most is that origin of Prince Arslan which specifically not tackled in this season. I doubt that he is the son of Andragoras (the King) and his Queen. However, there might be something in the past which leads to him being the prince. I love this anime, mainly maybe because it is historical. The action on it is also good and how every character choose whomever they believe also affects the plot. It comes to the point where they needed to pick whether being on the right side even though it is doubtful. Or pick on the wrong side just because it is a must. I do love the strategy used by the characters, the way they overcome any incidents and the way human think on certain situations that doesn't benefit them. For me, the season 1 successfully hang the viewers leaving questions on their mind. There are so many questions which needed a clear answer which I know will be answered at the possibly next season. How I hope for that.
CHARACTER: 8/10
I love the characters. I love Daryun, Narsus and Gieve. Haha.
Well, the strongest one, the intelligent and the handsome one are always the character who get an appreciation, isn't it?
However, the protagonist which we can see in other anime series and stories is always the weak one. The helpless one. What I think in my character view is lacking is the softness of Arslan. He is too dense or too weak that he is always needing the help of his subordinates. Well, maybe I'm just expecting him to show something which is new since it is a common thing to be helpless in an adventure genre if you are the protagonist. But there are some scenes where I so love his character, the time where he get mad when one of his subordinate is in danger. I do want to watch some more of it. I understand that he is young and a heavy burden was placed on his shoulder. However, I am still wanting more expression from him.
ENJOYMENT: 10/10
I enjoyed watching this series, really. I love historical anime. Much more, I am feeling the same kind of joy in watching it. It has the same aura as Akatsuki No Yona which is my favorite one. I was also awed at every fighting in this series. The movement is very detailed for me. As well as the expression of the characters who is fighting. There's no certain word I can think of to express that I really love this anime, also. Swear!
ENDING: 9/10
Do you know the feeling when you're already too excited on what is happening on the series you are watching? Then as the episodes gone by, you realize that the ending is cliffhanger? All the question you have left unanswered. You want more but you can't always get what you want. Watching this anime feels like I've just read a prologue of a book or story. The story starts in the ending. Well, I still love this anime even if I have to wait for the next season. I just need to know where is Gieve. Just kidding.
